Majalis and processions held in different cities to pay tribute to the sacrifice of Karbala.
KARACHI: 9th Muharram-ul-Haram today is being observed across Pakistan with religious solemnity, as mourners take out processions and hold gatherings to pay tribute to the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his companions in the tragedy of Karbala.
Majalis (religious gatherings) are being held in different cities, where scholars highlight the message of patience, truth, and standing against oppression. Processions of Tazia and Alam are also being carried out in several areas under strict security arrangements.
Security across the country has been tightened, with police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies deployed to ensure peace and maintain law and order during the mourning events.
Sensitive areas are being monitored through surveillance and checkpoints, while traffic routes have been temporarily diverted in many cities.
In Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and other major cities, mobile services in selected areas have been partially suspended as part of precautionary security measures. Emergency control rooms have also been activated to monitor the situation.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with security personnel and follow designated routes for processions to ensure peaceful observance of the religious day.
9th Muharram marks the day of deep mourning in the Islamic calendar, leading up to Youm-e-Ashura, which commemorates the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) in the Battle of Karbala.
