823 students receive laptops under PM youth scheme at SAU

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) The distribution of laptops among students of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, has commenced under the fourth phase of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme.

A ceremony in this regard was held at the university’s senate hall under the chair of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal. Addressing the event, Dr Siyal said that technology had brought innovation to the agriculture sector and added that the fourth phase of the scheme had been launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He said the initiative was aimed at equipping students with modern tools to enhance their education and research activities and enable them to contribute effectively to national development.

The vice chancellor noted that a large number of students from SAU had secured laptops on merit, which he termed encouraging. He added that the scheme was being implemented by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) under a transparent merit policy, while the university’s team ensured effective distribution of laptops among position holders and academically outstanding students.

Dr Siyal further said that students receiving laptops could utilize the facility for research work, assignments, thesis preparation, online courses and access to modern technologies worldwide to improve their academic performance.

Speaking on the occasion, focal person for the scheme and Director of the Information Technology Centre (ITC) Mir Sajjad Ali Talpur, informed that 823 students from various faculties, including Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programs had received laptops, and the distribution process had formally begun.

The Vice Chancellor distributed laptops among the students at the ceremony, which was also attended by deans of various faculties, including Dr Aijaz Ali Khonharo, Dr Inayatullah Rajpar, Dr Abdul Mubeen Lodhi, Dr Ghayasuddin Shah Rashdi, Dr Munir Ahmed Mangrio, Registrar Ghulam Mahiuddin Qureshi and others.
