807 majalis, 211 processions registered across district: DC

Sahiwal, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq has said that arrangements for majalis and processions during Muharram-ul-Haram are continuing in a satisfactory manner across the district, and the district administration and police are jointly monitoring all programs continuously.

The initial days have passed peacefully, while security and administrative measures have been made even more effective in view of the 9th and 10th of Muharram. He expressed these views during a media briefing along with District Police Officer Muhammad Usman Tipu.

He said that a total of 807 majalis and 211 processions have been registered across the district from 1st to 10th Muharram-ul-Haram, which are being monitored according to their respective categories.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration, police, Rescue 1122, Health Department, municipal institutions, and Civil Defense, along with all other relevant departments, are performing their duties under a joint strategy.

A live monitoring system for imambargahs and processions has been established, while instructions for strict compliance with the code of conduct have been issued in pre-arranged meetings with organizers.

He informed that arrangements for sewerage, electricity, and other civic facilities along the procession routes have been completed, while lighting, clean drinking water, and medical aid are also being ensured. Under the security plan, trained volunteers along with police and Civil Defense have been deployed, and all departments are on alert to deal with any emergency situation.

District Police Officer Muhammad Usman Tipu said that a foolproof security plan is being implemented across the district. Special surveillance and heavy deployment are in place at sensitive locations, and law and order will be maintained at all costs.

The Deputy Commissioner urged journalists to verify any news with the district administration or control room during Muharram-ul-Haram. He said that the district control room is active 24 hours and citizens and journalists can contact 0409200069 and 0409200061. A special cell has also been established for social media monitoring, which is keeping an eye on hateful and provocative content.
