800 litres of adulterated milk destroyed, 1,500kg of margarine seized in Abbottabad Food Safety drive

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) Under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Afrasiab Zubair Hundal, joint teams of the district administration and the Halal Food Authority Abbottabad carried out a special inspection campaign targeting milk shops, dairy units, and food outlets during Ramazan, resulting in the destruction and seizure of large quantities of unsafe food items.

During the operation, officials destroyed 800 litres of substandard milk on the spot, discarded 50 kilograms of inferior margarine, and seized 1,500 kilograms of improperly labelled margarine. Samples of suspected food items were sent to the State Food Laboratory, Peshawar, for detailed analysis and legal action.

Inspection teams conducted surprise visits to milk shops, where on-the-spot testing of milk was carried out.

Cleanliness conditions, storage arrangements, and supply records were also examined to ensure compliance with food safety standards. Fines were imposed on violators, while several shopkeepers were issued warning notices.

The district administration of Abbottabad reiterated that the sale of adulterated and substandard food items will not be tolerated during Ramazan, adding that monitoring teams remain active daily and strict action will continue under a zero-tolerance policy to protect public health.

The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure the availability of safe and quality food for citizens during the holy month.
