791 GCU students get laptops under PM scheme

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) As many as 791 students from 44 departments of the Government College University Lahore received laptops on merit under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme at a ceremony held at campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Fahad Shahbaz, focal person for the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and a member of the Prime Minister’s National Youth Council, said the scheme aimed to equip young people with modern technology and enable them to contribute to national development.

He said over one million laptops had been distributed on merit during the past decade and added that youth development centres had been set up in 72 universities across the country to promote leadership and provide guidance to students.

Director Students Affairs Siddique Awan said GCU students had excelled in diverse fields and the university had always played a leading role in nurturing leadership qualities among youth.

The ceremony was attended by teachers, officials and a large number of students. At the end of the event, the chief guest distributed laptops among the students.
