DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) UAD-Laptops As many as 58 students of the University of Agriculture Dera Ismail Khan (UAD) were awarded laptops under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme at a ceremony, aimed at promoting digital learning and empowering youth through technology.
UAD Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Latif Gondal attended the event as chief guest, while Registrar Abdul Basit Khan was also present on the occasion. Deputy Director Accounts (PERN) Muhammad Ilyas Khan represented the Higher Education Commission (HEC), whereas Dr. Aftab Alam served as the focal person for the ceremony.
Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Latif Gondal congratulated the students who received laptops and said they had proven their abilities on merit. He thanked the Higher Education Commission and the Federal government for their continued support to the university.
He said that although the university is relatively new and currently facing limited resources, efforts are being made to gradually overcome all challenges. He added that improving academic standards remains the institution’s top priority and that the university aims to strengthen its MPhil and PhD programmes to transform into a research-based institution in the future.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The Vice Chancellor also stressed the importance of professional and qualified faculty in enhancing students’ academic experience and urged upon the students to use the laptops positively for education, research, and intellectual development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Registrar Abdul Basit Khan described the event as a matter of pride for the university, especially for students who earned the opportunity through hard work and dedication. He said the university is committed to providing quality educational facilities despite limited resources.
He further said that the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme is aimed at empowering youth through digital technology so they can meet the demands of the modern era and effectively utilize their capabilities.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Latif Gondal and Registrar Abdul Basit Khan presented commemorative shields to HEC representative Muhammad Ilyas Khan and focal person Dr. Aftab Alam in recognition of their contributions.
