48 Nigehban Dastarkhwans set up in Bahawalpur for travelers, daily wagers

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza visited the site designated for 'Nigehban Dastarkhwan, Maryam Kay Mehman” adjacent to the General Bus Stand and reviewed the arrangements in detail.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Tayyab and officers of relevant departments were also present and briefed him on the administrative preparations.

The deputy commissioner stated that, under the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab, effective and coordinated measures are being taken across the district to provide relief to deserving individuals. He informed that eight “Nigehban Dastarkhwans” are being established in each tehsil of Bahawalpur district, bringing the total number across the district to 48 under the initiative “Maryam Kay Mehman".

He stated that these Dastarkhwans are being set up at key public locations to ensure maximum benefit for the needy. These include Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals, the General Bus Stand, and other major public points. Hundreds of travelers, daily wage workers, and deserving fasting individuals will be provided with quality Iftar meals daily at these sites. Hassan Raza further said that to mitigate the impact of inflation, special flour sale points have also been established across the district, where flour is being provided at government-fixed rates.

He directed the concerned officers to strictly monitor flour availability, quality, and pricing to ensure genuine relief for citizens.

He added that the Government of Punjab has introduced a Rs. 47 billion “Ramzan Nigehban Package,” under which Rs. 10,000 is being provided to each of 4.2 million deserving families across the province. The distribution of Nigehban Cards is underway in Bahawalpur and other districts, with cards being delivered directly to beneficiaries’ homes. The Deputy Commissioner directed that Ramzan relief measures must be implemented effectively, transparently, and on time, ensuring that all facilities reach the truly deserving. He stated that under the message “Blessed Month of Ramadan – Nigehban Stands with You,” public service remains the top priority of the Government of Punjab. He further informed that activation centers for the Ramzan Nigehban Card have been established across the district. Additionally, ration card holders are now being provided Rs. 10,000 instead of the previous Rs. 3,000 per month, offering substantial support to deserving families during the period of inflation.
