ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) The district administration intensified price and hygiene monitoring during Ramazan, inspecting 476 shops and hotels, arresting 12 shopkeepers, imposing Rs159,000 in fines, and sealing seven outlets during operations carried out across the district.
According to the details, following the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram, Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad, Additional Assistant Commissioners and Price Control Magistrates conducted inspections in different markets of the district to ensure the availability of quality food items at officially notified prices during Ramazan.
The teams, including Tehsildar Abbottabad, Tehsildar Havelian, Tehsildar SDC, Tehsildar Land Acquisition, Tehsildar Lower Tanawal and Tehsildar Lora, checked price lists, hygiene conditions and the quality of food items at shops and hotels.
According to the district administration, a total of 476 shops and hotels were inspected, 12 shopkeepers were taken into custody, Rs159,000 in fines were imposed, and seven shops were sealed for violations of price lists and hygiene standards.
Authorities also acted on complaints received at the Price Monitoring Desk, while strict action was taken against the use of substandard items and contaminated cooking oil.
The district administration has urged citizens to report price list violations to the District Control Room at 0992-9310553 or via WhatsApp at 0335-5851233 for immediate action.
