47 QAU students awarded scholarships under CAS program

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) A ceremony was held at the school of politics and International Relations to award scholarships to 47 students of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) under Phase III of the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” (CAS) program. The initiative reflects the deep-rooted friendship and growing educational cooperation between Pakistan and China, further strengthening the spirit of the longstanding “iron brotherhood” between the two countries.

Mr. Chen Peng, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Pakistan, along with Prof Dr Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor Quaid-i-Azam University distributed scholarships among the students.

Addressing the ceremony, the Cultural Counselor expressed his pleasure in visiting Quaid-i-Azam University, especially as Pakistan and China celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. He reaffirmed that despite changing global dynamics, the longstanding friendship between the two countries remains strong and unwavering. He also encouraged students to become ambassadors of this enduring partnership and invited them to explore further educational opportunities under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program.

Prof Dr Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University addressed the audience and termed the occasion a milestone for the University. A distinguished scholar of International Relations, he highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between Pakistan and China since 1949 and acknowledged the achievements of QAU alumni pursuing academic and professional success in China.

The Vice Chancellor encouraged the scholarship recipients to regard the award as a symbol of academic excellence and distinction that would remain a valuable part of their professional profiles. He also appreciated the dedication and commitment of the faculty in upholding high educational standards that continue to foster international academic collaborations and partnerships.

Earlier, Dr Muhammad Nadeem Mirza, Director School of Politics and IR stated that since its launch in 2023–24, the scholarship program has expanded considerably. He noted that while the initiative initially started at the School of Politics and International Relations, it now benefits students from various departments across Quaid-i-Azam University, owing to the leadership and support of the Vice Chancellor.
