District administration Peshawar has arrested 405 shopkeepers and sealed 935 business centres in various localities in crackdown against profiteers and violation of the officials price-list during last eight days of the month of Ramazan

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) District administration Peshawar has arrested 405 shopkeepers and sealed 935 business centres in various localities in crackdown against profiteers and violation of the officials price-list during last eight days of the month of Ramazan.

During the crackdown launched on the directives of the provincial government, the district administration has inspected 8,222 business centres and registered 345 cases were registered for violations of official price-list, poor cleanliness and overcharging of consumers 935 business centres were sealed, while fines of Rs. 19,66,000 were imposed and warnings were also issued to 2,859 shopkeepers.

These operations were carried out in Inner City, Karkhano Market, Tehkal, Budhbair, Ring Road, Sarband, Hayatabad, Dalzak Road, Faqirabad, Gulbahar, Kohat Road, Charsadda Road, Pishtkhara, Dabagri Gardens, G.T Road, University Road, Saddar, Hashtangri, Namak Mandi, Ramdas, Dir Colony, Phandu Road, Nauthia, Lahori Gate, Yaka Toot, Mathani, Chamkani, Shah Qabul, Palosi and other localities of the district.

During the inspection, butchers, bakers, vegetable and fruit sellers, grocery stores, hotel owners, milk sellers and other business centres were checked and strict legal action was taken against violators.

According to Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Capt (Retd) Sanaullah Khan, the district administration issues official price lists in vegetable and fruit markets on a daily basis and later its implementation is ensured in the markets.

He gave clear instructions that all shopkeepers should strictly follow the official price list, ensure best sanitation arrangements, sell quality items and avoid selling underweight roti, otherwise legal action will be taken.

He further said that for public convenience and effective monitoring of prices, price monitoring desks have also been established in various markets of Peshawar, where officials of the relevant departments are performing their duties on a daily basis under the supervision of the District Administration Peshawar, and citizens' complaints are immediately registered and action is taken on the spot so that maximum relief can be provided to the public during the holy month of Ramazan.

The public is also requested to report any overpricing, underweight roti or other violations to the district administration helpline 0919211338 so that immediate action can be taken.

He said that district administration Peshawar is committed to providing relief to the public and eliminating inflation and these operations will continue uninterrupted during the holy month of Ramazan.
