4.5m families availing Ramazan Nigehban Card facility in Punjab: Salma Butt

MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister for food safety and consumer protection, Salma Butt, said on Friday that 4.5 million households were benefiting from Ramazan Nigehban Cards in the province.

Ramazan Nigehban Cards provides not only cash assistance but can also be used to purchase essential items, said Ms. Butt during a visit to Muzaffargarh where she chaired a meeting to review arrangements for Ramazan and price control. She also visited a Ramazan Sahulat Bazaar to ensure the public was getting benefits intended and expressed satisfaction on the overall arrangements made to facilitate the people.

Salma Butt highlighted that under the Nighaban Ramazan Package, deserving families are receiving both essential supplies and cash assistance.

She said that approximately 150,000 deserving households in Muzaffargarh are being supported.

Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa informed the SACM that total 25,908 inspections were conducted in the district and 424 o recharging cases were identified resulting in 71 arrests and imposition of Rs 951,000 fine. Three cases were registered and fifteen business points were sealed. He said, 39 price control magistrates are conducting daily field monitoring to prevent hoarding and price hikes.

He said that prices of essential items were lower than market price and even the prices notified by the district government.

DC also gave details about Ramazan Dastarkhwans established in the district.

Ms. Butt reiterated Punjab government’s commitment to providing maximum relief to the public, ensuring that essential goods remain accessible and affordable throughout the month.
