33 gangs busted, 78 criminals arrested with looted valuables

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jul, 2026) City Police Officer (CPO) Multan Sadiq Ali Dogar on Thursday claimed that police had arrested members of 78 criminals of 33 gangs involved in robbery, dacoity, motorcycle and vehicle theft cases during the last two-and-a-half months.

Addressing a press conference along with SSP Operations Haider Ali and SP Cantonment Dr Khadija Umar, the CPO said Cantonment Division Police traced 729 cases and arrested 78 members of 33 gangs wanted in various criminal cases.

He said that police have also recovered looted valuables worth over Rs 118.1 million included three cars, 120 motorcycles and cash exceeding Rs114.7 million. Police also recovered 59 kilograms of hashish, 11 kilograms of heroin, 13 kilograms of ice, 480 kilograms of cannabis and 6,230 litres of liquor during operations conducted across the division.

The CPO further claimed that police seized 129 pistols and 415 rounds of ammunition used in criminal activities and arrested 433 proclaimed offenders during the period.

The CPO said special teams were constituted under the supervision of SSP Operations Haider Ali, SP Cantonment Dr Khadija Umar, SDPO Cantonment Halar Khan Chandio, DSP Muzaffarabad Muhammad Bakht Nasr Khan and DSP Mumtazabad Azmat Shaheen. The teams utilized modern technology and police applications to trace gangs and recover stolen property.

He said operations against criminal elements would continue and more arrests were expected in the coming days.

The recovered property was later handed over to its rightful owners, who appreciated the efforts of Multan Police.
