3,744 ltrs of substandard juice seized during enforcement operation

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) shut down a major beverages manufacturing unit in Sundar Industrial Estate and seized 3,744 litres of substandard juice during a large-scale enforcement operation here on Sunday.

According to details, the Food Safety Team conducted raids on 21 units as part of a targeted monitoring drive, imposing fines on 20 units for violations of food safety laws and standard operating procedures.

The Director General (PFA) Syed Musa Raza said the sealed unit was found using non-approved juice labels that had not been cleared by the Punjab Food Authority, raising concerns over product authenticity and consumer safety. Furthermore, it was revealed that the facility’s employees lacked mandatory medical fitness certificates and required food safety training documentation, reflecting gross negligence of regulatory requirements.

The DG said that a special enforcement campaign is underway across the province to ensure strict monitoring of juice and beverage production units during the summer season, when demand rises significantly and risks of adulteration increase. He reiterated that the authority is pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against the adulteration mafia and that strict legal action will continue against all violators without exception.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health by ensuring the availability of safe, hygienic, and quality food products to consumers across Punjab.
