23 professional beggars detained, action taken against 5 encroachers in night operation

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) The district administration carried out late-night operations across the Federal capital, detaining 23 professional beggars and taking action against 5 individuals for setting up encroachments.

The crackdown was conducted in Blue Area, E-11 and F-8 as part of the administration’s ongoing anti-begging campaign.

According to officials, a total of 23 professional beggars were taken into custody and shifted to police lockups. Assistant Commissioner City led an operation in Blue Area, where 11 individuals involved in professional begging were detained.

In a separate action, Assistant Commissioner Shalimar conducted an operation in E-11 and detained 7 beggars. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Industrial Area oversaw a crackdown in F-8, resulting in the detention of 5 individuals engaged in begging activities.

Authorities said the operations were carried out after receiving reports of increasing begging activities at public places, commercial centers and busy intersections. The administration stated that the campaign aims to discourage organized begging and maintain public order in key areas of the capital.

Alongside the anti-begging drive, officials also acted against illegal encroachments. Action was taken against 5 individuals found responsible for establishing unauthorized structures or occupying public spaces. The administration said encroachments create difficulties for pedestrians and traffic movement and will continue to be removed wherever identified.

The district administration urged residents to support the anti-begging campaign by reporting professional beggars and avoiding practices that encourage organized begging networks. Officials said public cooperation is important for the success of the campaign and for ensuring that public spaces remain accessible.

Authorities added that similar operations will continue across Islamabad and that enforcement teams will remain active in commercial zones, markets and residential sectors. The administration reiterated its commitment to taking action against professional begging and illegal encroachments in accordance with the law.
