20 violators fined Rs.196,000 in food safety crackdown

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) Food safety operations continued across the district on Monday on the directives of Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority Rizwan Saeed,officials said.

According to official sources,inspection teams carried out 214 inspections during the ongoing drive,issuing improvement notices to 115 shopkeepers for violations of food safety standards.

Officials said fines amounting to Rs.196,000 were imposed on 20 violators for non-compliance with regulations.

During the inspections,teams also discarded 4.45 kilograms of expired, prohibited and substandard food items to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to the public.

Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority(PFA),Rizwan Saeed said strict enforcement of food safety laws would be ensured, adding that no negligence regarding public health would be tolerated.
