17 profiteers held,Rs.150,000 fine imposed

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) The district administration on Tuesday arrested 17 profiteers and imposed fines amounting to Rs150,000 during a crackdown against overcharging in different areas of the provincial capital.

On the directives of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Lahore Muhammad Ali Ijaz,Assistant Commissioner(AC) Cantt Syeda Sumbal Javed, accompanied by price control magistrates,carried out raids in Ghazi Road,Infantry road and Makkah Colony.The teams checked prices of essential commodities and reviewed implementation of government-notified rate lists.

Officials said strict action was taken against shopkeepers found overcharging customers.

Traders were directed to ensure the sale of essential items at officially notified prices and to prominently display rate lists at their outlets.

The administration also instructed officers to monitor the availability and quality of items at DC counters and other public sale points.Complaints regarding profiteering were being addressed on priority,officials added.

DC Muhammad Ali Ijaz said that profiteering and hoarding would not be tolerated,warning that strict action would continue against violators to protect consumers and maintain price stability in the city.
