164 citizens receive Rs. 63.7m after Ombudsman’s intervention

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Mar, 2026) The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab has secured payment of Rs. 63.7 million to 164 citizens across the province during the last three months, following directions issued on public complaints regarding long-pending government dues.

According to a spokesman, the recovered amount pertained to educational scholarships, marriage grants, death grants, leave encashment, family pensions, group insurance, financial assistance, GP Fund claims and other outstanding liabilities. The complainants had approached the Ombudsman’s Office after facing delays or denial of payments by the departments concerned.

On the Ombudsman’s intervention, Rs. 22.1 million was disbursed to 21 citizens in connection with various pending departmental dues, Rs.

2.27 million to five citizens as family pension, and Rs. 1.56 million to seven citizens as death grant. Similarly, Rs. 14.45 million was paid to 57 citizens as marriage grant, Rs. 1.45 million to 22 citizens in educational scholarships, and Rs. 2.6 million to 12 citizens as financial assistance. An amount of Rs. 14.4 million was released to 29 citizens from the GP Fund.

In addition, Rs. 1.75 million was disbursed to five citizens as leave encashment, Rs. 1.2 million to three citizens as group insurance, and Rs. 1.87 million to three citizens in connection with OSD posts.

Moreover, 23 complainants were appointed to government service under Section 17-A in accordance with the relevant rules.
