ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) The district administration of Abbottabad sealed 12 shops, arrested 12 profiteers, imposed fine on several others, and inspected a total of 273 shops and hotels during a crackdown against overpricing in Ramadan.
The operations were carried out on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram, while Assistant Commissioner Afrasiab Zubair Handal also led surprise inspections in Main Bazaar, Sabzi Mandi, and Kutchery Road following public complaints.
According to official details, District Price Control Magistrates inspected 273 shops and hotels across the district. During the crackdown, 12 shops were sealed, 10 were fined, and five individuals were arrested.
In a separate operation led by the Assistant Commissioner, seven profiteers were arrested and a total fine of Rs80,000 was imposed on violators of the official price list.
The inspections aimed to ensure the sale of essential commodities at government rates and protect citizens from profiteering during Ramadan. Officials also obtained feedback from citizens in markets to identify violators.
The district administration warned that profiteering, hoarding, and violation of official price lists will not be tolerated, and strict, indiscriminate legal action will continue against violators. Citizens were urged to report complaints to price monitoring desks and the district control room for immediate action.
