WAH CANTT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Feb, 2026) The tehsil administration intensified its crackdown against profiteering during Ramadan on Saturday, sealing 11 shops and sending five shopkeepers to jail following violations of official price lists and overcharging in various markets of Taxila.
According to APP correspondent, the Assistant Commissioner Maryia Javaid led a joint inspection campaign along with price control magistrates, conducting extensive checks in major bazaars.
Officials inspected chicken, beef and mutton outlets to ensure strict compliance with government-notified rates, while prices of fruits, vegetables and other essential commodities were also monitored.
During the drive, authorities imposed fines amounting to Rs. 126,000 after carrying out 355 inspections. Eleven outlets were sealed over serious violations, including overpricing and hoarding, while five shopkeepers were arrested and shifted to Adiala Jail.
