RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) On the directives of City Police Officer CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, Rawalpindi Police have intensified their crackdown against violations of the Tenancy Act, registering nine cases and taking 11 individuals into custody.
Police spokesman said the action was taken in the areas of Dhamiyal and Rawat police stations against property owners and tenants who failed to complete mandatory tenant registration. The spokesman added that non-registration of tenants is a punishable offence under the law.
He said that special teams are conducting daily search operations to ensure strict implementation of the Tenancy Act and to maintain law and order in the city.
So far this year, police have registered 598 cases and arrested 644 individuals for violations of the Tenancy Act.
Citizens have been urged to ensure immediate registration of tenants and domestic employees through their respective police stations, Police Khidmat Markaz, or the Punjab Police mobile application. Police also appealed to the public to report any violations to the nearest police station, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
