LODHRAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th May, 2026) The livestock department distributed 100 poultry units among farmers in district Lodhran to promote the kitchen Poultry under the Propagation of Backyard Poultry program in order to prevent stunted growth in kids.
Additional Director Livestock Lodhran, Dr Allah Bachaya, said the units consisting of 12 male birds or (cockrels) were given to farmers at Rs 3600 per unit on first come, first serve basis.
He said that the age of these birds was 8 weeks having 400 to 450 gram per bird weight.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said that the poultry units were sent to various veterinary hospitals at three tehsils of district Lodhran where from the units were distributed among farmers.
The purpose of the initiative was to meet the demand of protein and to reduce stunted growth. The poor people rear it and also sale for earning.
He said, secretary livestock and DG livestock have ordered officials to remain engaged with the farmers and provide them guidance and technical assistance.
