10 major parks to be transformed into modern sports grounds

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) The divisional administration has announced plans to convert 10 underutilized parks across Faisalabad into fully equipped sports grounds to offer walking tracks, open gyms, and recreational spaces for women besides enhancing opportunities for healthy physical activity.

Chairing a meeting, Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar reviewed the proposal and directed the Divisional Sports Officer and Director Horticulture Agency to conduct joint site visits and prepare detailed development plans.

He said that all ten parks should be converted into sports grounds by June 2026 to provide modern facilities for the youth. Each ground would include water and washroom facilities, and local sports committees would be established to manage activities and maintenance, he added.

He said that under the “Adopt a Park” program, major parks would also be linked with public schools and branded as “Pakistan Parks”, showcasing the cultural heritage of each province.

This initiative would help in promoting recreational infrastructure, healthy lifestyles and community engagement among Faisalabad’s residents, he added.

Managing Director (MD) Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) Dilawar Khan outlined the targeted parks for transformation and said that these included Noorpur Park, Crescent Park on Sheikhupura Road, Qasim Park in Peoples’ Colony No.2, Ansari Park in Badar Colony, Mohammadi Park in Liaqat Town, Mian Sharif Park Chak No.274-RB, Raja Park Sharifpura Satiana Road, Jungle Singh Park in Peoples’ Colony No.1, Lalazar Park on ChenOne Road and Canal Park/Sports Arena from Novelty Bridge to Pul Korian.

Director General (DG) Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhary, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Murtaza Malik, Divisional Sports Officer Manzar Shah, Director Development Asif Chauhan and others were also present in the meeting.
