1,029 POs arrested in Vehari in 3 months

VEHARI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) The district police conducted vigorous operations and arrested a total of 1,029 proclaimed offenders, including 87 of A-category and 942 of B-category during the last three months.

In addition, 537 court absconders were also apprehended during the period.

According to official statistics, 82 proclaimed offenders were arrested in November 2025. However, after the posting of DPO Vehari Tasawer Iqbal, the number of arrests significantly increased, with 342 offenders arrested in December, 380 in January and 306 in February.

Similarly, the number of arrested court absconders also witnessed a sharp rise. Only 10 court absconders were arrested in November 2025, while after the appointment of the current DPO, the police arrested 126 in December, 249 in January and 162 in February, marking a record increase.

DPO Tasawer Iqbal said in a statement that further measures were being taken to cancel the passports of dangerous proclaimed offenders and ensure their arrest. He added that two proclaimed offenders were recently arrested at the airport while attempting to flee abroad, as the police had already been monitoring them due to the possibility of their escape.

He further stated that the arrests of proclaimed offenders would continue through an effective strategy, coordinated operations and the use of modern technology. Ensuring the protection of life and property of citizens and making Vehari district crime-free remain the top priorities of the police, he added.
