Trial run of Jamalo train completed ahead of formal launch

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) A trial run of the Jamalo train service was completed between Sukkur and Rohri on Tuesday as part of efforts to provide modern and accessible transport to residents.

District Council Sukkur Chairman Syed Kumail Haider Shah, along with DS Railways Farhan Ghani and SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan Mughal, travelled on the train from Sukkur Railway Station to inspect the track and operational arrangements.

Railway officials and council members reviewed various aspects of the service during the test run.

Sardarzada Syed Mohsin Abbas Shah, Local Government Minister’s Focal Person Irfan Ali Daudpoto, Sardar Taqi Khan Darijo, District Council Chief Officer Lala Zafar Iqbal Mughal and others were also present.

Speaking to the media, Syed Kumail Haider Shah said the Jamalo train, Jamalo Park and other local projects would be inaugurated before Muharram. He said the service would provide affordable and safe travel to the public.

He added that various town committees of Sukkur district would be part of the project, while students and labourers would be allowed to travel free of cost. The chairman said the service was expected to reduce traffic problems and improve commuting facilities for citizens.
