RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 14 militants during an intelligence-based operation in Basima area of Balochistan after receiving information about a planned attack on a police station and banks.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), intelligence reports received on June 8 indicated the presence of militants belonging to what it described as the Indian proxy group “Fitna al-Hindustan” in the area.
Acting on the information, security forces launched a swift and effective operation, successfully thwarting the militants’ movement and plans, the statement said.
During an intense exchange of fire, 14 militants were killed and several others were injured. Security forces also destroyed four vehicles being used by the militants and recovered and neutralized improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the site.
The ISPR said Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbas embraced martyrdom during the operation.
Clearance operations are continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign, stating that actions against militancy would continue without interruption until the complete eradication of terrorism and its external support networks.
