PCC inspects Muharram procession routes, reviews final security arrangements

The Provincial Cabinet Committee (PCC) on Law & Order has conducted a detailed inspection of central procession routes in Faisalabad, reviewing security, administrative and facilitation measures for ensuring peaceful observance of the sacred month of Muharram-ul-Haram amid an atmosphere of religious harmony and public safety

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jun, 2026) The Provincial Cabinet Committee (PCC) on Law & Order has conducted a detailed inspection of central procession routes in Faisalabad, reviewing security, administrative and facilitation measures for ensuring peaceful observance of the sacred month of Muharram-ul-Haram amid an atmosphere of religious harmony and public safety.

Provincial Minister and Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique and Co-Chairman Bilal Yasin headed the committee who visited important procession routes and examined the arrangements made for mourning gatherings and processions during the first ten days of Muharram-ul-Haram.

Provincial Ministers Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth and Bilal Akbar Khan also accompanied the delegation.

Secretary Auqaf Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, Additional Inspector General CTD Waseem Sial, Additional Inspector General Imran Arshad, Chief Coordinator PFTIC Brigadier Asjad Ali, Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Madam Musarrat Jabeen, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhaira and Additional Secretary Internal Security Maham Asif Malik were also present on the occasion.

During visit, the committee reviewed security deployment, monitoring arrangements, traffic management plans, emergency response measures and other administrative preparations along the procession routes.

The delegation also visited the Central Imambargah Jafaria Trust where they met organizers and inquired about arrangements for majalis and mourning processions.

The officials briefed the committee about route management, security protocols and coordination mechanisms devised to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of Muharram activities.

The delegation was informed about the steps taken to facilitate mourners while maintaining strict security vigilance.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, the cabinet committee was personally visiting different districts and divisions across the province to review and finalize Muharram arrangements. He said extensive preparations had been completed through coordinated efforts of the administration, law enforcement agencies and peace committees.

He noted that large-scale arrangements for Sabeels and distribution of food among participants were also being made during Muharram.

He appreciated the role of district administrations and peace committees, saying that their prudent and coordinated efforts had contributed significantly to effective planning and public confidence.

Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin said that Punjab would observe Muharram-ul-Haram in a peaceful manner with due religious reverence and respect.

He emphasized that all arrangements were being carried out strictly in accordance with established rules and regulations and that no unauthorized innovations or deviations would be allowed. He stressed the importance of implementing the code of conduct issued by Home Department and maintaining close coordination among all stakeholders to preserve peace and order throughout the month.

Provincial Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth said that the committee was actively engaging with peace committee members, procession organizers, license holders, religious scholars and community leaders to strengthen cooperation and address concerns at the grassroots level.

He said that religious scholars of all schools of thought and the administration were united in their commitment to ensure a peaceful Muharram.

Provincial Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said that comprehensive arrangements had been completed for the monitoring of majalis and mourning processions. He said that followers and scholars of all schools of thought were demonstrating sincerity and commitment towards maintaining religious harmony and extending full cooperation to the administration.

The committee members expressed satisfaction over the preparedness of local authorities and reiterated the government's resolve to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram through effective security measures, inter-sect harmony and close coordination among all concerned departments and stakeholders.
