Level playing field in GB elections reflected people's true mandate, Amjad Hussain says

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) PPP Gilgit-Baltistan President Amjad Hussain on Sunday said his party emerged as the single largest political force in GB elections, attributing its success to a level playing field and transparent polling and said it would follow the central leadership's decision on government formation.

While speaking to a local media outlet, Amjad Hussain thanked the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their support in

2026 elections, adding that he said we appreciate the discipline of voters, as well as the arrangements made by the administration and the role of security forces in ensuring peaceful polling.

He said the elections were held in a transparent manner with a level playing field for all political parties, allowing voters to freely express their choice.

He added that the enthusiasm of the people reflected their strong participation in the democratic process.

Amjad Hussain said the PPP had emerged as the single largest party in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly by securing 12 seats, while the PML-N won 6 seats.

He noted that results in 2 to 4 Constituencies were still pending due to re-polling.

He further said that the central leadership of both the PPP and PML-N would consult on the formation of the next government, including whether to form an alliance or proceed separately.

He added that the PPP would follow whatever decision is taken by the party leadership.

Amjad Hussain said all winning candidates are committed to working for the development of Gilgit-Baltistan and added that any decision regarding an alliance would be respected and welcomed.
