Kohat police honors martyrs at sports tournament finale

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) Kohat Police on Tuesday paid rich tribute to its fallen heroes during the concluding ceremony of the Police Martyrs Tournament held at the Kohat Sports Complex, where officers underscored the importance of sports in promoting fitness, discipline, and unity among law enforcement personnel.

The ceremony was attended by SP City Iftikhar Khan, DSP Saddar Nazir Hussain, and DSP Headquarters Imaduddin. Players and teams demonstrating outstanding performances in various sporting events were awarded trophies, certificates of appreciation, and prizes in recognition of their achievements.

Addressing the gathering, police officers highlighted the vital role of sports in enhancing physical well-being, mental development, teamwork, and professional discipline. They stressed that encouraging healthy sporting activities within the police force is essential for building a motivated, efficient, and resilient workforce capable of meeting modern policing challenges.

Meanwhile, acting on the special directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Shahbaz Elahi, police operations against proclaimed offenders and criminal elements continued across the district. In a successful operation, Khushal Garh Police arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in multiple criminal cases.

According to police sources, In-charge Khushal Garh Checkpost Raouf Khan, along with his team, apprehended the accused, Nabiur Rehman, during a checkpoint operation. The suspect was reportedly wanted in cases involving intimidation, unlawful confinement of a citizen, and other related offences. Following his arrest, he was shifted to Gambat Police Station, where further legal action and investigation are underway.
