PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jun, 2026) Former Mayor Peshawar, Haji Zubair Ali, has reached Singapore to represent Pakistan in the World Cities Summit, a four day global conference to be held from June 14 to 16 next.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, Zubair Ali is among the two others, including Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa, former Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, elected from Pakistan for participation in the World Cities Summit.
The summit will be attended by more than 100 mayors, 115 ministers, and governors from all over the world. Representatives of the World Bank, World Health Organization, and other international organizations are participating in the summit.
The four-day global conference World Cities Summit 2026 is being held in Singapore, in which representatives of more than 250 cities around the world, mayors, ministers, governors, heads of international organizations and urban development experts will participate.
Cities from different regions, including mayors of the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and 17 European countries, will be represented in this important global forum.
Former Mayor Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali said that the problems faced by cities around the world include many common challenges, the solution of which requires international cooperation.

He said that in the summits held in the past years, the mayors of different cities had highlighted the problems and challenges faced by their respective areas, while various recommendations and practical strategies were agreed upon for permanent and effective solutions to these problems.
It is expected that this year too, an effective mechanism and a joint action plan will be formulated to improve urban development, autonomy of the local government system, modern infrastructure and the quality of public services.
He further said that this forum is of utmost importance for solving urban problems faced by the country, especially Peshawar, benefiting from the modern local government system and learning from global experiences, and the results of this conference will play a positive role in urban development and improvement of public facilities in the future.
