DPC reaffirms commitment to interfaith harmony,strict security for Muharram

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jun, 2026) The District Peace Committee (DPC) on Monday reaffirmed its resolve to ensure peace, religious harmony and inter-sectarian tolerance during Muharram-ul-Haram,pledging coordinated efforts between the civil administration, police, religious scholars and community representatives to maintain law and order.

The meeting was jointly chaired by Deputy Commissioner(DC) Captain (R),Nadeem Nasir and City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Anwar Ali along with members of the peace committee,including Hafiz Muhammad Amjad, Zahid Mahmood Qasmi, Maulana Riaz Kharal, Jafar Naqvi, Iftikhar Naqvi, Yasin Zafar and Father Emrick Joseph.

Speaking on the occasion,the DC said the role of religious scholars, spiritual leaders and peace committee members was of utmost importance in ensuring peaceful observance of Muharram.

He said all relevant departments would remain in close coordination to facilitate religious gatherings and processions.

He stressed that unity and brotherhood must be upheld during sensitive days, adding that authorities would remain vigilant against any attempt to disturb public order.

He further said foolproof security arrangements were being finalized for majalis and processions,warning that no one would be allowed to incite hatred or create unrest.

CPO Tanveer Hussain said police were fully alert and committed to maintaining peace and security during Muharram, adding that strict implementation of the code of conduct and security SOPs would be ensured across the district.

Religious scholars and peace committee members reiterated their commitment to promoting tolerance,unity and brotherhood during the holy month.

The meeting also agreed to strengthen coordination for enforcement of the code of conduct and monitoring mechanisms to curb the spread of inflammatory content on social media.

Later,participants offered special prayers for peace,stability and national unity.
