DC directs strict actions against profiteers in district

CHICHAWATNI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sahiwal, Samiullah Farooq, has directed all price control magistrates to ensure an active presence in the field and focus on maintaining genuine price stability in markets and bazaars.

Chairing a weekly performance review meeting of special price magistrates from across the district at Montgomery Hall, he said that every magistrate should conduct daily field visits and and impose heavy on-the-spot , sealing shops, and sending violators to jail upon receiving complaints of overcharging.

He said that providing relief to the public and ensuring the availability of essential food items at officially notified rates remained the top priority of the Punjab government, adding no leniency would be shown towards profiteers, hoarders, or elements creating artificial inflation.

The meeting was informed that during the last four days, the authorities conducted 7,491 inspections across the district, imposed fines Rs 53,500, sealed five shops, and arrested eight individuals.

The deputy commissioner further instructed all price magistrates to ensure 100 percent compliance with the display of official price lists at prominent locations in commercial centres, retail shops, and tandoors.
