DC Abbottabad calls for unity, strict code of conduct to ensure peaceful Muharram

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has emphasized inter-sect harmony, strict adherence to the code of conduct, and coordinated security measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of Muharram-ul-Haram in the district.

He expressed these views while chairing an important meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner Office Abbottabad, which was attended by District Police Officer Haroon Rasheed, religious scholars from different schools of thought, trader representatives, press club office-bearers, and other members of civil society.

The meeting focused on maintaining law and order, strengthening religious harmony, and finalizing effective security arrangements for Majalis and processions during Muharram.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that the district administration is working in close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure foolproof security and a peaceful environment.

He urged scholars to strictly observe the agreed code of conduct, designated routes, and scheduled programs, while avoiding provocative speeches, sectarian material, and illegal use of loudspeakers.

He further called upon traders and citizens to actively cooperate with the administration and law enforcement agencies, stating that collective responsibility is essential to maintain peace during the holy month.

District Police Officer Haroon Rasheed assured that police and security agencies will utilize all available resources to ensure complete security during Muharram. He also appealed for public cooperation to support law enforcement efforts.

Participants of the meeting, including religious scholars and representatives of trader organizations, reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and supporting the administration initiatives.
