BMP officials get bulletproof jackets, helmets

DERA GHAZI KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Azhar Akram provided bullet-proof jackets and helmets to Border Military Police (BMP) officials as he along with commissioner Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry, embarked on a detailed visit to sensitive border areas along the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa frontier to review the prevailing security situation.

During the visit, the two officers inspected BMP police station Lakhani, Vehova and other adjoining border regions and sensitive locations. Officers from Rangers, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), police and civil administration also accompanied the delegation, police spokesman said.

The RPO and commissioner also held meetings with tribal elders and local residents, assuring them of full protection and the provision of necessary facilities. Tribal leaders reaffirmed their commitment to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with law enforcement agencies and the administration in maintaining peace and security in the region.

The officers reviewed the deployment of personnel, availability of vehicles, weapons and ammunition, defensive positions, and security measures in place. They also inspected the use of thermal drones and thermal cameras for surveillance and monitoring, as well as the preparedness and response mechanisms of security forces.

The RPO and commissioner met personnel of Punjab Police, Border Military Police (BMP), Special Operations Unit (SOU), CTD and Rangers and shared meal with them.

They appreciated their vigilance, professionalism and preparedness, and encouraged them to continue performing their duties with dedication and courage under all circumstances.

The RPO directed officers and personnel to remain on high alert at all times, ensure strict monitoring of all entry and exit routes, and conduct regular mock exercises to improve preparedness for emergency situations. He also ordered further improvement in the response time of backup teams and emphasized strict adherence to standard operating procedures during force movements.

Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry said, all available resources were being utilized to maintain law and order and described the Suleiman Mountain Range as a peaceful area inhabited by patriotic tribal communities. He stressed that lasting peace would be achieved through close cooperation with local tribes. He vowed that terrorists and anti-state elements would be dealt with firmly.

RPO lauded the bravery of security personnel who confronted terrorists, and said the Punjab government had provided modern weapons and all necessary resources to strengthen border check posts and police stations in the fight against terrorism. Police and other security agencies remain fully alert and determined to thwart the nefarious designs of Khawarij terrorists to ensure the protection of citizens' lives and property, even in the most challenging circumstances, he added.
