ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Ali Gohar Baloch on Tuesday congratulated all successful candidates and political parties following the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, urging all stakeholders to respect the public mandate, uphold political tolerance, promote national harmony, prioritize public welfare and contribute towards the region’s development and prosperity.
While speaking to ptv news channel, he said the political party which had earlier levelled allegations of rigging is now expected to accept the election results with satisfaction, adding that the elections were conducted in a peaceful, fair and transparent manner, clearly reflecting the will of the people.
He stressed that all parties should demonstrate political maturity and accept the outcome in the spirit of
democracy.
He further noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already extended congratulations to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on behalf of the PML-N leadership, underscoring the importance of political harmony and mutual respect among all stakeholders.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Responding to a query regarding government formation, he said that if the party is required to sit in opposition, it will perform its democratic role responsibly.
Ali Gohar added that the final decision regarding government formation rests with independent candidates, whose choices will be decisive in the evolving political situation.
He further stated that if Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, as the leader of a single majority party, seeks to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan, it is his democratic right.
He said that PML-N firmly believes in the public mandate and does not fear any political party, adding that the party remains confident in its democratic strength.
He also criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that it has failed to deliver on its promises and meet public expectations. He maintained that public trust can only be earned through performance, consistency, and strict adherence to democratic principles.
